Artist: Max Grundy

Max Grundy's approach to "Hot Rod and Custom" art is slightly different from the rest. His art uses propaganda style, fear tactics to get his message across. . . and why not?

The media preys on fear, the news thrives on making you afraid, and advertisers. . . let's not forget the ad agencies around the world that terrorize you with fear. Fear of not looking good, fear of not being excepted, fear of not getting the girl (or guy) and spending the rest of your life alone. . . that is, unless you buy their products. Then, and only then will you live happily ever after

Talk about rare engines

Sure we've seen a Flathead with Riley heads and thought "hey, that's pretty cool. . . " and thought it's cool cause it's rare.   Well how about having this in your Hot Rod?  Apparently when Tucker was in business (for a very short time) they pulled one of their motors off the line. . .

Brian Bass and The Wade Coupe

Found this cool series of short videos online (there's twelve separate clips total) and thought that some other folks might want to check them out as well.  It's Brian Bass chopping "The Wade Coupe".  It's a car we all know and love, it's one thing to read about a car and look at pictures of it, and it' another thing to see how it was done.

We get a tour of the finished chassis, then we get onto the good stuff.  So grab a snack, pour a drink, watch and learn. . .

Austin Speed Shop's 1st Annual "Bonnie & Clyde" Reliability Run

So, the folks at The Austin Speed shop in. . . well, Austin, TX (not to be confused with Austin, Minnesota) had the idea to do a reliability run. . . but not just any old reliability run. They came up with the idea of doing a "Bonnie and Clyde" themed run, where the guys could show up not only in their hot rods, but could also wear their favorite London drape suit and fedora, while their girls could show up in that cloche hat they've been saving for a "special occasion".

Hemi Powered Drag Cars of The '60's

Just came across this really cool promo video from Dodge.  It features a bunch of Dodge powered drag cars tearing down the track.   I've heard tales about this slice of four minute drag racing heaven, but never seen or knew of anyone who had this clip until a few days ago.

The all new, all steel '32 5W Coupe

United Pacific announced their new, all steel, 1932 Five Window Coupe body about a year ago. . . since that announcement, hot rodders have been waiting patiently for it's arrival. First UC gave us a tease by dragging a stock '32 5W around with some of their replacement parts on display (doors, trunk lids, etc. . ) A lot of people were and still are really excited by the quality that they saw.

Well, the bodies are just about ready and the price has been announced, $22k.

There has been quite an uproar. . .

I love me some Ardun Heads

I don't know about the rest of the world, but I love an Ardun powered Flathead. . . sure, now it's got overhead valves and in "theory" it ceases to be a flathead anymore, I still love the look and the concept behind it all. . .

How To Chop a '47 Buick in 2 Minutes

"It took The Coupe Devils (Norway) 9 hours to chop Hans Ola Christensen's '47 Buick.  This movie compiled by Kustomrama sums it up in 2 minutes."

Well, the video is actually two. . .

Rolling Bones Garage Night

Every year The Rolling Bones manage to squeeze (and I mean squeeze) two hundred plus folks into the old barn where they've been making Hot Rod History. People drive, fly, and even get their Passports stamped to make it to. . .

So-Cal Forged Brackets

So I heard about these new Forged Spring Hangers being turned out by So-Cal Speed Shop, I was pretty excited. I've used a number of later (post 1948) rear axles in cars that I've built, and I've always been less than impressed with the look of a "Laser Cut" spring hanger. . .
